Olive Branch, Miss. (October 9, 2012) - Tori Conklin, a senior at Olive Branch High School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
She was one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for General Scholarship. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. She and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Tori has served as class president all four years of high school. Ranked first in the senior class, she holds a 4.365 grade point average and scored 31 on the ACT. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a two-time Co-District Governor of Mu Alpha Theta. She also is a four-year member of the Student Leadership Council. While serving as a People to People Ambassador through the Washington School of World Studies, Tori earned 240 credit hours in ambassadorial studies and 34 credit hours in applied leadership. With this group, she traveled to China and Costa Rica. Active in the community, Tori volunteers with the Memphis Zoo Boo, Riverkings Roadside Cleanup, and Memphis Botanical Gardens Easter Egg Hunt.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its seventh year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators. Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, Le-Moyne Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
